VBS

This year I was the team leader for CHBC's 5th and 6th grade class at VBS. I had four other teachers to help me. I had to teach the lesson on two of the nights. Let's just say that I don't feel like I am a good teacher regardless of what my spiritual gifts test says. I did enjoy doing the reasearch and putting together the lesson. It really made me use the stuff that I have learned in the recent months and put it together to show that the Bible is God's Word. The lesson that I gave on Tuesday night was about the crucifixion. I found out that the when Jesus said, "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" He was actually quoting Psalm 22:1. In that particular Psalm there are several references to how he would die. People in the His day would have recognized the scripture that He was quoting. It is neat how He pointed us to this Psalm from the cross to show that it had all been predicted and that it was coming true.

A Lesson from Jana

I was reading "Unhindered" by Jana Spika when the subject she was discussing really hit home. She was talking about Philippians 4:8


"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."

She began talking about how God revealed to her that if she was thinking bad things about someone or something, that she should think on these things instead. For example if her boss was mean, she should think of things that were true about her boss, noble about her boss, right about her boss, pure about her boss, etc. and think on those things. Not only is it healthier for you, but it is more Christ like.


I am going to try to do this in the future. What a way for God to teach me to be more like Him.

Elizabeth Burnett's Birthday Party

McKenzie and McKaleb went to Elizabeth's birthday party at Bounce USA. It is a place that has several inflatables that the kids can play on. Below is a video of the kids going down the big inflatable slide. Quite a feat for one as small as McKaleb. He went once with McKenzie prior to this video and he was adament that he wasn't going again. (McKenzie had accidentally pushed him down before he was ready.) He apparently recovered from the experience and loves it!

McKenzie's 1st Soccer Game

Here are some clips from her first soccer game. It was quite an adventure. She was a little upset at first, but now she loves it. I think it helped that her first and second game were only a few days apart because they needed to make up a game.

Snow Angels and Cubbies Sing
