The Clock is Ticking...... Rhonda

So according to Rhonda, the clock is ticking. Ticking you say, on what? Well, apparently I don't post quick enough. But being a single mom, sometimes it is hard to find the time, as well as something interesting to blog about. The past couple of weeks have been a blur. We finished one round of swim lessons and had a wonderful week of rest. That was the week of the 4th. On the 6th, we started our second round of swim lessons. I don't have any pics of this round, but maybe I will get some this week.

I have also applied to grad school at UTM for their online counseling program. Maybe one day I will start a grad program and then finish a grad program. They are just lacking one letter of recommendation as of today. My reference will be sending it tomorrow. Yipee! I will have all the documentation in, and will just be waiting on the acceptance letter.

Kaleb will be 3 tomorrow. My baby is now considered a big boy. Wah!!!!! I guess we will have to start potty training in earnest now. He can do it, I have just been too lazy to deal with it. Diapers can be so much easier than trying to remember to take a little one to the bathroom. Kenzie just goes when she has to go, so trying to remember to take him is hard. I have got to get a little discipline.

Kaleb wants to go to Shoney's for his birthday. He loves it there. He likes it beacause he can get "the bar." When we went on vacation, he ordered the bar everywhere we went, but we didn't go to any restaurants that had a bar. It was so funny!

So there is my update for today. I have another post forming in my head, so I my find the time to write it tomorrow, or not. Now that the clock has started over I have lots of time........

More Vacation!

We spent lots of time walking up the beach to find shells. There was a great place where the shells were collecting on a shelf underwater. When the tide went out it was easy pickin's on the shells.

As I was walking the beach I began to think of how brief life is. That one day we are walking along and then then next we are gone. We are like footprints in the sand. We make a brief impression on our world and then we are gone. Within a few years traces of our life has faded. A few more, and all remembrance of our life is gone. Just like the footprints in the sand. The first wave fades the prints, the second completely removes them. Watching the waves dance in and out sweeping the beach clean of footprints, reminded me how fragile and precious life is. I realized that I want to spend more time in the moment and do things instead of waiting for another day. I am going to try to do things just because instead of waiting for a special occasion. I really enjoyed this vacation and the time that I got to spend with the kids.

On the third evening, we ate at the Sea Captains House. It was a different experience. We waited for about 45 minutes, but the kids were entertained by the chess set and the beautiful lawn that overlooks the beach. McKenzie thought that the waiter, whose name was Nick, might have been Nick Jonas in costume. He did have slightly curly hair, but.... When Nanny asked him if he was Nick Jonas, he replied that he wasn't. He had heard of the Jonas Brothers, but other than that had no idea who they were. He was a little old to be a part of the Disney crowd.

McKenzie had a ball pretending to be organizing her own Camp Rock experience. She registered all her campers and sent them to their cabins to get ready to practice for Final Jam. She is a great little organizer.

Kaleb was content to play ball and jump off of the beds while she was trying to keep her campers in line. He is working hard on potty training too! Hopefully we will be dry during the day by his birthday!! He wants to be a big boy so badly!

Not Me Monday!

It is that time again! Time for a Not Me Monday! This week has a couple of good ones. Check out McKMama by clicking her Not Me Monday button above. Enjoy!
  • I did not go to my best friend's house and have an impromptu performance by our children. If we did have a performance, I would not post the video below.

  • I did not attempt my first day of potty training with my 2 year old on Saturday. He did not do well until we went to Target for lunch.
  • I did not ignore the puddle that he did not make at Target so that I could get him to the car to get the clean clothes that I did not prepare ahead of time because I knew that he would not have an accident.
  • I did not then have to change him again because this time he pooped.
  • I did not have to clean up everything from the bottom down because he had underwear on after his first accident.
  • He did not have it on his feet and then get it on the floor in the Target restroom. I did not have to clean the floor in the restroom to get the poop up.
  • He did not wiggle on the changing table and try to put his dirty feet on my shirt while I was trying to clean him up.
  • I did not just give up for the day and put a diaper on him.
  • My mom and I did not throw out the underwear so that we would not have to deal with cleaning it.
  • The little stinker then did not go all night with out wetting his diaper.
  • I did not put the same diaper back on him since it wasn't wet, after he used the potty.
  • While using the potty, he did not wet all over my skirt. I did not have to change my entire outfit for church.
  • I did not tell my daughter that she didn't have to go to Action Kids.
  • I did not ask the Sparks teacher to let her out of game time because my child was distressed by having to play organized games instead of free play that she had as a Cubbie. It is not so distressful to her that she cries because of it.
  • She did not come home a happier kid because she got a green jewel and did not have to participate in the games.
  • I did not go out and buy accessories to some of the toys that my kids got for Christmas. I mean who has the money to do that, and why would you since they just got so much for Christmas. I did not buy a guitar stand for McKenzie and a Ukulele for McKaleb so that he would not tear up her guitar.
  • I did not just use MS Word to spell check ukulele before I posted such a strange word on my blog.
  • McKaleb did not put change in McKenzie's guitar after I bought him the ukulele. I did not waste my time trying to protect her toy by buying him one of his own to destroy.

And that is just the highlights my friend. I hope you are having a great week. School started back for McKenzie today, so we had to transition back to our normal routine. If you are in this situation, I hope your morning went as smoothly as mine. Thanks Kenzie, you were great today!
