Not Me Monday!

Welcome to the blog event known as Not Me Monday. Where we celebrate the things we didn't do last week. You can check out the rules at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/.

  • I do not record NCIS religiously and watch it when the kids are not at home.

  • I do not get so engrossed in the recorded episode, that I forget that I recorded it and actually watch the commercials.

  • I did not take my daughter and our cousins Kelly and Sarah to the re-grand opening of The Groovy Pad. They did not have a great time dressing up, having their hair, make-up and nails done, and singing HSM songs.

  • I did not allow the kids to watch "Enchanted" four times in the last week. I did not allow them to start watching it close to their bed time, so that they would fall asleep watching it. I did not fall asleep before they did.

  • I do not love House. I do not watch it so often that my kids know all the characters and are able to identify their favorite episodes.

  • I do not watch so many shows with medical terminology that when a character on a non medical show didn't know what petechial hemorrhaging was or what could caused it, I did not shouted out the answer at the TV. If you don't know that that is, do not ask me!

  • I am not starting a draft of this blog on Wednesday while watching said NCIS recording.

  • While writing this draft, I did not forget that it was recorded and still watch the commercials.

  • I did not forget to post my Not Me Monday on Monday, even though I started it last Wednesday.

  • I do not have my own private stash of chocolate at home. I love the DeMets Turtles. I do not hide them from the kids so that I do not have to share with them.

  • I did not eat half of one of the Turtles and put the other half down, for 2 seconds mind you, to help McKenzie address her valentines, only to turn to find the other half devoured by my chocoholic son.

  • He was not grinning madly and laughing while I was trying to find the piece of chocolate.

  • He was not having a hard time keeping it in his mouth.

  • He did not then proclaim that he wanted more brownies. I did not contradict him and tell him that what he had eaten was not a brownie but a Turtle.

  • I did not make brownies so that I could avoid sharing my private stash with the kids or alert them to where I have hidden it.

McKaleb is still recovering from bronchitis. Please pray that he gets over it soon. I am concerned because he is on steriods almost everytime he has a breathing issues (residual effects of having RSV in 2007). He is still occasionally wheezing and needing breathing treatments to help with that.

Hope you have a great week. We are off to gymnastics tonight!

The Groovy Pad Grand Re-Opening

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to take McKenzie and our cousins, Kelly and Sarah, to the Groovy Pad's Grand Re-Opening. It is a wonderful place to take your kids to play and act out that fantasy that is in their minds.

The Groovy Pad offers 3 rooms to dress up and play in. They also have added a new Hollywood room that allows the kids to get their hair, make-up, nails, and/or fake tattoo's applied. Below are some pictures of the afternoon that we spent there.
The first room is the Princess Room. You are treated to a Castle that has all the necessities required of a fairy tale. From princess costumes for girls to dragon, knight, and pirate costumes for the boys. Complete with jewels, tiaras and poisoned apples.
Selecting the perfect dress and shoes......

Posing on the throne under the arbor.......

The table is set for your tea party......

A pop princess even comes to your tea.....

After your hair, make-up and nails are done......

Singing like a pop princess that you are......

A view of the Retro-Disco Room

Sarah is chillin' listening to the singers.....

And lest you think that it is only for girls, they have the camp out room for the boys. Complete with camp fire and .......

fishing pond!
This is an awesome place. McKenzie is begging to go back. I am going to be purchasing a pass for sure. McKaleb will love it too. He will be all over dressing up as a monster or something else. The fishing pond, well that is all boy. Way to go Ms. Julie!!! Even having girls, your boy room rocks.

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to www.mycharmingkids.net to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
  • I have not been trying to slowly move my 2 1/2 year old into underwear.

  • I do not still have some Dora Pull-Ups from when I was potty training my daughter.

  • I did not allow my son to wear the Dora Pull-Ups. Little Man is not totally excited to be wearing Dora Pull-Ups and asking for them instead of his Mickey Mouse Huggies Diapers.

  • I did not take my kids to the circus and allow my son's diaper to overflow. We did not have to go out to the car to get diapers to change him.

  • I did not buy $10 cotton candy and $8 lemonade at the circus.

  • I did not spend most of Friday evening playing on the computer to update my blog design.

  • My kids did not watch Enchanted twice this week.

Since it has been a few weeks since I have posted on NMM, I thought I would have more, but....

Have a great day!

A Couple of Give Aways

Check out More than Words and Domestically Challenged for your chance to win some cool stuff.

More than Words is offering a blog make-over (who couldn't use that)

and

Domestically Challenged is offering a Target Gift Card (woo-hoo - it is just my favorite place to shop).

BTW - I think that domestically challenged could be a long lost sister!!!

Have a great weekend.

The Circus Comes to Knoxville

I was fortunate enough to be able to take the kids to the circus last night. It was McKaleb's first experience with the circus and he loved it. The place was practically empty, probably due to the fact that it was a school night (however, Sevier County is 2 hours late tomorrow Momma). We had a great time and got out relatively unscathed on souvenirs. All it cost me was $8 for a lemonade (a must have since it was hot in the Coliseum and did come with a souvenier bottle) and $10 for cotton candy (which did come with a souvenir hat).

It seems that Ringling Brothers must be in cahoots with Disney somehow because they played several Disney songs during the show. This made for great dancing music for the kids.

Below are a few pics from our adventure.

The live band played the song that is at the end of each Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode for this section. For those of you that don't know it is called "Hot Dog." It also happens to be a great song to dance to with the kids!

I am glad that I am not the elephant laying on the floor.

The cotton candy hat!

Surprise! Look who was 2 rows below us at the circus! McKaleb's favorite set of twins! He shared his cotton candy with them I am not sure that Jack and Jake liked it though. McKaleb didn't like it at first either, but once he figured out it was junk food, he was all for it.

The spinning white tiger.

The grand finale!

Duck Duck Goose!!!

It is that time of year again!!! It is time for the best consignment sale in Knoxville. It is one week only. If you are thinking about cleaning out your kid's closet and selling some of their things, I encourage you to try Duck Duck Goose instead of a yard sale. Some reasons to choose Duck Duck Goose over a yard sale:

Yard Sale

  • You will have to tag and price your items for a yard sale.

  • You will have to find a day to have the yard sale and hope for good weather.

  • You will have to advertise your yard sale.

  • You will have to work your yard sale.

  • You will have to clean up after the yard sale.

  • You will have to make change, prevent loss, negotiate with customers, etc.

  • You will have to watch your kids or get someone to take care of them while you try to sell their stuff, all the while trying to keep them from taking a long forgotten toy that you could make some cash off of back into the house.

  • You calculate how much you made compared to the number of hours worked for the sale and decide if you wasted your time......

Duck Duck Goose

  • You will have to tag your items for DKDKGoose

  • The dates are already set. It is in a store (so the sale is inside)!!!

  • Advertising is paid for by sponsers of the sale.

  • You can choose to work a shift to reduce your consignment fee, or not.

  • You can pick up unsold items after the sale, or they will donate them for you.

  • Someone else is responsible for watching the merchandise.

  • You can shop the sale, or not.

  • While your items are selling, you can be at your real job (either being a full-time mommy or working your 8-5 job) or playing with your kids.

  • You can log in every night to check your sales totals.

  • You get 70% of the selling price of each item.

  • No negotiation on the price with a customer. Either they buy it, or they don't.

  • If the item doesn't sale, you can donate it, or try to sell it the next year (if you have the room to store it).

  • Half-Price day (need I say more)

Obviously there are lots of positives over having your own yard sale. Check out the information on the upcoming sale April 2nd through April 6th at http://www.dkdkgoose.com/. This sale occurs before Easter. You just might find the perfect outfit for your little one at a very good price.

Is this the same child?

Not Me Monday!

It is that time again! Time for a Not Me Monday! This week has a couple of good ones. Check out McKMama by clicking her Not Me Monday button above. Enjoy!
  • I did not go to my best friend's house and have an impromptu performance by our children. If we did have a performance, I would not post the video below.

  • I did not attempt my first day of potty training with my 2 year old on Saturday. He did not do well until we went to Target for lunch.
  • I did not ignore the puddle that he did not make at Target so that I could get him to the car to get the clean clothes that I did not prepare ahead of time because I knew that he would not have an accident.
  • I did not then have to change him again because this time he pooped.
  • I did not have to clean up everything from the bottom down because he had underwear on after his first accident.
  • He did not have it on his feet and then get it on the floor in the Target restroom. I did not have to clean the floor in the restroom to get the poop up.
  • He did not wiggle on the changing table and try to put his dirty feet on my shirt while I was trying to clean him up.
  • I did not just give up for the day and put a diaper on him.
  • My mom and I did not throw out the underwear so that we would not have to deal with cleaning it.
  • The little stinker then did not go all night with out wetting his diaper.
  • I did not put the same diaper back on him since it wasn't wet, after he used the potty.
  • While using the potty, he did not wet all over my skirt. I did not have to change my entire outfit for church.
  • I did not tell my daughter that she didn't have to go to Action Kids.
  • I did not ask the Sparks teacher to let her out of game time because my child was distressed by having to play organized games instead of free play that she had as a Cubbie. It is not so distressful to her that she cries because of it.
  • She did not come home a happier kid because she got a green jewel and did not have to participate in the games.
  • I did not go out and buy accessories to some of the toys that my kids got for Christmas. I mean who has the money to do that, and why would you since they just got so much for Christmas. I did not buy a guitar stand for McKenzie and a Ukulele for McKaleb so that he would not tear up her guitar.
  • I did not just use MS Word to spell check ukulele before I posted such a strange word on my blog.
  • McKaleb did not put change in McKenzie's guitar after I bought him the ukulele. I did not waste my time trying to protect her toy by buying him one of his own to destroy.

And that is just the highlights my friend. I hope you are having a great week. School started back for McKenzie today, so we had to transition back to our normal routine. If you are in this situation, I hope your morning went as smoothly as mine. Thanks Kenzie, you were great today!
