Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to www.mycharmingkids.net to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
  • I have not been trying to slowly move my 2 1/2 year old into underwear.

  • I do not still have some Dora Pull-Ups from when I was potty training my daughter.

  • I did not allow my son to wear the Dora Pull-Ups. Little Man is not totally excited to be wearing Dora Pull-Ups and asking for them instead of his Mickey Mouse Huggies Diapers.

  • I did not take my kids to the circus and allow my son's diaper to overflow. We did not have to go out to the car to get diapers to change him.

  • I did not buy $10 cotton candy and $8 lemonade at the circus.

  • I did not spend most of Friday evening playing on the computer to update my blog design.

  • My kids did not watch Enchanted twice this week.

Since it has been a few weeks since I have posted on NMM, I thought I would have more, but....

Have a great day!

A Couple of Give Aways

Check out More than Words and Domestically Challenged for your chance to win some cool stuff.

More than Words is offering a blog make-over (who couldn't use that)

and

Domestically Challenged is offering a Target Gift Card (woo-hoo - it is just my favorite place to shop).

BTW - I think that domestically challenged could be a long lost sister!!!

Have a great weekend.

The Circus Comes to Knoxville

I was fortunate enough to be able to take the kids to the circus last night. It was McKaleb's first experience with the circus and he loved it. The place was practically empty, probably due to the fact that it was a school night (however, Sevier County is 2 hours late tomorrow Momma). We had a great time and got out relatively unscathed on souvenirs. All it cost me was $8 for a lemonade (a must have since it was hot in the Coliseum and did come with a souvenier bottle) and $10 for cotton candy (which did come with a souvenir hat).

It seems that Ringling Brothers must be in cahoots with Disney somehow because they played several Disney songs during the show. This made for great dancing music for the kids.

Below are a few pics from our adventure.

The live band played the song that is at the end of each Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode for this section. For those of you that don't know it is called "Hot Dog." It also happens to be a great song to dance to with the kids!

I am glad that I am not the elephant laying on the floor.

The cotton candy hat!

Surprise! Look who was 2 rows below us at the circus! McKaleb's favorite set of twins! He shared his cotton candy with them I am not sure that Jack and Jake liked it though. McKaleb didn't like it at first either, but once he figured out it was junk food, he was all for it.

The spinning white tiger.

The grand finale!

Duck Duck Goose!!!

It is that time of year again!!! It is time for the best consignment sale in Knoxville. It is one week only. If you are thinking about cleaning out your kid's closet and selling some of their things, I encourage you to try Duck Duck Goose instead of a yard sale. Some reasons to choose Duck Duck Goose over a yard sale:

Yard Sale

  • You will have to tag and price your items for a yard sale.

  • You will have to find a day to have the yard sale and hope for good weather.

  • You will have to advertise your yard sale.

  • You will have to work your yard sale.

  • You will have to clean up after the yard sale.

  • You will have to make change, prevent loss, negotiate with customers, etc.

  • You will have to watch your kids or get someone to take care of them while you try to sell their stuff, all the while trying to keep them from taking a long forgotten toy that you could make some cash off of back into the house.

  • You calculate how much you made compared to the number of hours worked for the sale and decide if you wasted your time......

Duck Duck Goose

  • You will have to tag your items for DKDKGoose

  • The dates are already set. It is in a store (so the sale is inside)!!!

  • Advertising is paid for by sponsers of the sale.

  • You can choose to work a shift to reduce your consignment fee, or not.

  • You can pick up unsold items after the sale, or they will donate them for you.

  • Someone else is responsible for watching the merchandise.

  • You can shop the sale, or not.

  • While your items are selling, you can be at your real job (either being a full-time mommy or working your 8-5 job) or playing with your kids.

  • You can log in every night to check your sales totals.

  • You get 70% of the selling price of each item.

  • No negotiation on the price with a customer. Either they buy it, or they don't.

  • If the item doesn't sale, you can donate it, or try to sell it the next year (if you have the room to store it).

  • Half-Price day (need I say more)

Obviously there are lots of positives over having your own yard sale. Check out the information on the upcoming sale April 2nd through April 6th at http://www.dkdkgoose.com/. This sale occurs before Easter. You just might find the perfect outfit for your little one at a very good price.

Is this the same child?

Not Me Monday!

It is that time again! Time for a Not Me Monday! This week has a couple of good ones. Check out McKMama by clicking her Not Me Monday button above. Enjoy!
  • I did not go to my best friend's house and have an impromptu performance by our children. If we did have a performance, I would not post the video below.

  • I did not attempt my first day of potty training with my 2 year old on Saturday. He did not do well until we went to Target for lunch.
  • I did not ignore the puddle that he did not make at Target so that I could get him to the car to get the clean clothes that I did not prepare ahead of time because I knew that he would not have an accident.
  • I did not then have to change him again because this time he pooped.
  • I did not have to clean up everything from the bottom down because he had underwear on after his first accident.
  • He did not have it on his feet and then get it on the floor in the Target restroom. I did not have to clean the floor in the restroom to get the poop up.
  • He did not wiggle on the changing table and try to put his dirty feet on my shirt while I was trying to clean him up.
  • I did not just give up for the day and put a diaper on him.
  • My mom and I did not throw out the underwear so that we would not have to deal with cleaning it.
  • The little stinker then did not go all night with out wetting his diaper.
  • I did not put the same diaper back on him since it wasn't wet, after he used the potty.
  • While using the potty, he did not wet all over my skirt. I did not have to change my entire outfit for church.
  • I did not tell my daughter that she didn't have to go to Action Kids.
  • I did not ask the Sparks teacher to let her out of game time because my child was distressed by having to play organized games instead of free play that she had as a Cubbie. It is not so distressful to her that she cries because of it.
  • She did not come home a happier kid because she got a green jewel and did not have to participate in the games.
  • I did not go out and buy accessories to some of the toys that my kids got for Christmas. I mean who has the money to do that, and why would you since they just got so much for Christmas. I did not buy a guitar stand for McKenzie and a Ukulele for McKaleb so that he would not tear up her guitar.
  • I did not just use MS Word to spell check ukulele before I posted such a strange word on my blog.
  • McKaleb did not put change in McKenzie's guitar after I bought him the ukulele. I did not waste my time trying to protect her toy by buying him one of his own to destroy.

And that is just the highlights my friend. I hope you are having a great week. School started back for McKenzie today, so we had to transition back to our normal routine. If you are in this situation, I hope your morning went as smoothly as mine. Thanks Kenzie, you were great today!

Not Me Monday

I have been reading MckMama's Not me Monday's for awhile now. I definately have something to say this week. Unfortunately it covers two weekends.

  • McKenzie did not spend the night with my mom on Friday the 19th and have an episode of croup that caused a middle of the night trip to the ER.
  • I did not take McKaleb to the ER with me and have him throw up all over me because he gagged on a hair in his mouth. We did not have to get clothes from the clothing closet at Childrens in order to go home because we were covered in grossness.
  • We also did not crash at mom's when we got home from the ER so that we could catch up on our rest.
  • Mom's oven did not decide to go out the Saturday before Christmas. David did not think that it was working, test it and say it was fine, only to have it be out on Christmas Eve around 4 pm, with mom having company on Christmas day to fix a meal for.
  • The oven not being out did not cause me to do something I hate with a passion, go to the grocery store, for a second time in one day. I did not have to buy meat from the deli (just before the store closed on Christmas Eve), which I would never admit that I had not done before the first time to the store earlier in the day.
  • While at the store, I did not look for Cake Wrecks and hope to find one to submit to the blog.
  • I did not allow my daughter to put out PB sandwiches as reindeer snacks and cookies for Santa. Said reindeer did not leave just the crusts as proof that Santa had visited.
  • I did not hit a mailbox with my sideview mirror yesterday on the way to Pee Paw's after church. Fortunately since I did not hit the mailbox, only the mirror came off and didn't scratch the car at all since the mirrors are the break away kind. I am not driving looking at a black spot where the mirror fell off trying to check my blind spot.
  • I was not glad that there were no services last night as I didn't feel like going, even though I haven't been in a few weeks.
  • I did not have to take both kids to the doctor on Friday after Christmas. I did not have one kid with a sinus infection and contact dermititus and one with beginning stages of croup needing breathing treatments every 6 hours, steroids, and a toddler Zpack. I then did not have to go to the doctor for myself to be diagnosed with a virus that could turn into a sinus infection.
  • I also did not have to send the sick kids to be with their dad for the weekend.
  • I did not stay in bed until 3pm on Saturday watching an NCIS marathon on USA, only to get up for a few hours to see my dad, Darlene and Emily. I did not return home and climb back into bed, fall asleep, and wake up mad the next morning because I missed the episodes that I had not seen from that season.
  • I did not buy myself a box of Turtles Friday night at the Christmas Clearance Sale at Wal-Mart, and hide them so that I don't have to share them with the kids.

And this was just a few of the things that I did not do. If only I had the time and space to let you know all of the things that I did not do in the past 10 days. Maybe this will become a habit of Not me Mondays. Maybe I will have a calmer week than the last 10 days.

Off the topic of Not Me Monday, I am in a bad funk and desparately need prayer. If you have the time, a small one would help me greatly as I am in a place that I am having a hard time doing it for myself.

Hope your Christmas was great. Ours was except for the Not Me Stuff. I will try to post some pictures and a couple of videos of McKaleb singing Christmas songs for your enjoyment.

Another lost tooth

McKenzie has lost another tooth. She has now lost 4 teeth. She is growing up so fast. Just 6 years ago, she was such a little thing, and now she is almost as big as I am.

The last tooth that McKenzie lost was pulled by Mrs. Book, at teacher at her school. She refused to let me pull this tooth since Mrs. Book is apparently the "best" at pulling teeth. She had to wait for Mrs. Book to pull it.

So Mrs. Book pulled it yesterday. We put it in the tooth fairy pillow and went to bed. I was exhausted because I had to work late on Monday night at a Financial Aid Night at Milligan College and we had gymnastics last night. My plan was to get up early in the morning and make sure that the tooth fairy had stopped by to collect the tooth and leave a surprise.

Needless to say, I felt like I had been hit by a truck this morning and I forgot. I realized that I forgot when a very disappointed McKenzie said "She didn't come." I quickly realized my error and let her know that I had been in the kitchen to turn on the iron and I thought that the tooth fairy had left something for her in there. I instructed her to get her clothes on quickly so that she could come check it out.

I quickly grabbed the notepad on the fridge, disguised my handwriting and wrote a note from the tooth fairy explaining that she left the surprise in the kitchen because she saw how tired McKenzie was and she didn't want to wake her. What had the potential to be a huge disaster was averted and McKenzie skipped back to the bedroom to show McKaleb the money she got for her tooth.

I told McKenzie that we would put the tooth back in the pillow and that the tooth fairy would pick it up tonight since the tooth fairy wouldn't have to worry about waking her up since it is the night she stays over with her dad. Boy am I glad that she accepted that without question. It was awful to hear her disappointed little voice. She was happy after she got her personal note though.

Keep me in your prayers over the next few weeks. Today it has been 10 years since my first date with Lucas. Obviously a lot has changed in the last 10 years and not all for the best. December has always been a rough time for me since I have Peter Pan syndrome and don't want to grow up or things to change. Unfortunately everything changes. I remember being upset over growing up when I was 10 years old. Since my birthday is in December and New Years is right around the corner, it has always made this a difficult time of year.

Thanks in advance for the prayers. I hope you all are having a good week!
