Prayer Request

I don't usually post prayer requests on such a public forum, but I feel the need to share with you some news I learned the other day. A girl that I went to high school with and see frequently (as she is one of lab techs at the pediatrician's office) has a very sick child.

Earlier this week she had one of our doctors check out her child and the doctor sent her to Childrens. Childrens ran some tests and determined that the child has cancer. They are sending my friend and her child to a specialty hospital for more testing next week.

As I have not discussed this post with her, I have withheld her name, but God knows her name and all the details of her situation. Please pray that He will hold them close during this time of such uncertainty. I can't even imagine the fear and pain that she and her child are going through.

Thank you for praying for her.

Third day of 1st grade - Otherwise know as McKenzie's first day of 1st grade

This week has been a little traumatic to say the least. McKenzie came down with a virus on Sunday. It caused her to run a high fever that prevented her from going to school on the first two days. After visiting the doctor to find out that it was indeed a virus, he indicated that she should stay out of school until the fever was gone. Kenzie really wanted to stay out as long as possible, but today she woke with no fever and since she hadn't had one since the night before, it was off to school for her first day of first grade. (Anyone else singing that song from the VeggieTales movie Jonah?)

Anyway, here are some pictures of my girl on her first day. Imagine my surprise when she didn't want to wear pink. A shocker to be sure.

After meeting her teacher on Thursday night, her only question was if Ms. Vivan could call school off on August 28th so that Kenzie could go see "The Wizards of Waverly Place - The Movie." I told her that Ms. Vivian could not call school off for that and reminded her that the movie was going to be on Disney Channel that night so she wouldn't miss it because of school. Such a funny girl!

I almost cried dropping her off this morning. I did walk her to the classroom since it had been a week since we visited the school to meet her teacher. She was fine when I left her. I can't wait to hear all about it this afternoon. She is a big girl now and I am definitely not ready for it.

Have a great Wednesday!

Stellan

If you have followed my blog at all or talked to me during the past few months, I have been following the life of MCKMama at www.mycharmingkids.net. Her sweet baby Stellan is not doing well. I am asking for prayers for this little one that God hold him in his hand. We know that God is the Great Physician and can heal him here on earth, or heal him by bringing him home. Please pray for Stellan and his family as they deal with the emotions of these days.

They have called the extended family to come, so unless a miraculous earthly healing occurs, then little Stellan may be with our Lord soon! Please pray for the healing of their family either way.

In tears over a family I only know through a blog,
Laura

Random birthday photos

On Kaleb's actual birthday, we had swimming lessons. Since we have been eating out after the swim lessons, we let Kaleb pick out the restaurant. He chose Shoney's because he wanted the bar. Such a silly boy. He loves getting the bar, but he doesn't eat a lot from it. He still loves going there though.

A vast improvement over the kid I had at swim lessons a few weeks ago. No more choke hold. I am trying to get him to be a little more adventurous about swimming.

A silly face for the camera.

Look at those big blue eyes.

She looks so beautiful here. Don't let her hear you say she is beautiful. She only wants to be cute. Oh well she is going to be one beautiful girl!

A big bite for a little fellow!

They even sang to him at Shoney's when they brought out their ice cream sundae's.

Below is Kenzie's first jump off the diving board at the UT Aquatic Center.

She is amazing. She has moved up to the next level in swimming. I am trying to convince her to take lessons this fall. We will see how I do with that.

Enjoy the photos and video!

Enjoy the update, 2 in one day!

Kaleb's 3rd Birthday Party!

Here are some random images from McKaleb's birthday party this weekend. I would like to give big thank you's to the following people:

  • The Burnett's for allowing us to use the club house and pool in their subdivision for the party.
  • Rachel for helping to order the cake during my busy week.
  • Mom for buying and preparing the side dishes and getting the paper products from Party City.
  • Papaw for cooking the hot dogs.
  • Papaw Biscuits and Darlene for getting the ice and balloons for the party.
  • PeePaw for bringing the ice cream.
Thanks to everyone who came to the party. Kaleb had a great time. He has thanked us many times since the party was over for having his party and coming to his party. It was a huge success!

Enjoy the photos!

Happy Birthday Kaleb!!

My little one is a baby no more. Today he turns 3! In his honor, I have put a few of my favorite memories of the past 3 years here for you to enjoy!

Just a few minutes old! I was born at 11:04 pm on July 14th weighing 6 lbs 13 oz.

Going home from the hospital. I look so cute and tiny.

My first adventure at Market Square ice skating. I am too cute.

My new car seat. I am finally old enough to face forward!!

My 2 year old pictures. I have a sweet smile, but I am very mischevious.

See my potato head, mom!

Here is that mischievous smile.

Getting me some love!

Having fun at swim lessons.

Playing the Happy Birthday game with Nanny. We light a candle and sing as softly as possible and I blow out the candle. So much fun.

Happy Birthday little man. You are a wonderful blessing in my life. I hope to help you celebrate many more birthdays.

Love,
McksMom

The Clock is Ticking...... Rhonda

So according to Rhonda, the clock is ticking. Ticking you say, on what? Well, apparently I don't post quick enough. But being a single mom, sometimes it is hard to find the time, as well as something interesting to blog about. The past couple of weeks have been a blur. We finished one round of swim lessons and had a wonderful week of rest. That was the week of the 4th. On the 6th, we started our second round of swim lessons. I don't have any pics of this round, but maybe I will get some this week.

I have also applied to grad school at UTM for their online counseling program. Maybe one day I will start a grad program and then finish a grad program. They are just lacking one letter of recommendation as of today. My reference will be sending it tomorrow. Yipee! I will have all the documentation in, and will just be waiting on the acceptance letter.

Kaleb will be 3 tomorrow. My baby is now considered a big boy. Wah!!!!! I guess we will have to start potty training in earnest now. He can do it, I have just been too lazy to deal with it. Diapers can be so much easier than trying to remember to take a little one to the bathroom. Kenzie just goes when she has to go, so trying to remember to take him is hard. I have got to get a little discipline.

Kaleb wants to go to Shoney's for his birthday. He loves it there. He likes it beacause he can get "the bar." When we went on vacation, he ordered the bar everywhere we went, but we didn't go to any restaurants that had a bar. It was so funny!

So there is my update for today. I have another post forming in my head, so I my find the time to write it tomorrow, or not. Now that the clock has started over I have lots of time........
